Well, the magic just keeps on coming from the pen of Ms. Newbound.
I have to say I loved this book and cannot praise it highly enough.
I was gripped from the start and loved all the characters in this book, even the ones I was supposed to hate, and that was because they were so well written. A lot of authors write characters two dimensionally, but the characters in this book are fully rounded and three dimensional.
The major plot of this story is a woman's struggle to overcome the abuse she suffered as a child at the hands of her paedophile Father and his sick accomplices. The past comes back to haunt her in the most unexpected of ways, but even though the subject matter can be uncomfortable for some, it does not detract from the story and I found myself cheering as the baddies in this book got their comeuppance. And yes, once again, parts of this story border on horror, with the added touch of gore the author seems to favour, but I have to say, these parts are vital to the story that Ms. Newbound is telling us.
I would love for this book to be turned into a television programme in the same vein as Prime Suspect, and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I really love this book! I'm so happy I discovered this new writer and her work. This is a mystery where you keep THINKING you might know who the killer is - but then a new twist shows up, making your original theory obsolete. It's very exciting and suspenseful. I didn't like all of the characters, although on the other hand, you're not supposed to like the baddies haha. But even the hateful ones were very well drawn out. I'm glad to hear there will be more stories about the detective who saves the day in this book, and that this is the first in what will be a whole series of books about him. He IS a really likable character. Netta Newbound is really talented and I can't wait to read more from her. Seramidis
This is an exciting and disquieting family psychological thriller where the main character, Amanda, faces her deepest, darkest memories and feelings and some shocking events happen around her. She's a paradox and I was swept along in the crises she had to face and at the same time following the effects it was having on those around her. I liked the Detective and was intrigued with his involvement and how that developed, dealing with Amanda's case was never going to be straightforward, her story is intense. Sandra T

The story begins with a bang. The main character, a young women with two children, walks into the bathroom at a party and finds her husband in an extremely compromising situation with another women. She leave the party, running off in the fog. Her husband follows her in a cab and finally convinces her to come home by reminding her of her children waiting at home. After some days, she forgives him, but then soon after, she discovers the women she had found him with is his mistress. As though that wasn't enough strain on her marriage, she is notified that her father who had been imprisoned as a serious child molester has been released. She had told her husband that her parents were dead. Her husband is aghast particularly since his wife had been complaining that she knew someone was watching their house. He takes the children and moves in with his girl friend.Her father has disappeared, not checking in with his parole officer; then her step mother is murdered. She is suspected of the murder as she had testified against both her father and her stepmother at the trial that found the two guilty. She believes her father did it and is terrified that she will be next. However, the police suspects her. Meanwhile, her therapist has diagnosed her with a split personality disorder, believing this would be the only way she could mentally survive the horror of her childhood. She has always disbelieved this diagnosis but now she isn't so sure.
The story is one that keeps you hanging, not sure whether the main character is the killer or not; she is not sure whether she is or not. Someone breaks into her house, leaving a message on her husband's desk computer, saying that he is next for his whoring around, escalating the story even more and making her even more of a suspect..
This is a good story, well worth the read,

Just finished reading an amazing thriller mystery! Lots of twists and turns, plenty of suspects to keep you guessing. The storyline is fascinating giving peeks into the underbelly of a seemingly ideal family life. Plenty of happenings soon reveal the darkness that the heroine overcomes. Even she is surprised at the stunning resolution...with just enough to keep you reading the next installment! (Also amazing) Kudos to Netta Newbound
A tale with many twists and turns. Such solid constitution Amanda possess. A soul full of a loving spirit and unlimited compassion. From early childhood this woman was used by those who should have loved and protected her. At some point it was delightful to see the PUS filled maggots received their due. Ten points for the good guy.
What a great start to a wonderful series! And by one of my fave authors too. What more could I ask for? And what's even better, there are 3 more books to come after this one. I devoured this one so quickly that I was glad I had the others waiting for me. This one kept me guessing and glued to my kindle. What a thrill ride!

Reader's do not miss this one!!! Ms. Newbound you have a new fan. I was blown away by this book. I absolutely fell in love with these character's. The sad part is the abuse that Amanda and her brother had to endure and the fact that she had a cheating husband was heart breaking. I loved Adam's character and was pulling for him and Amanda from the start. I was shocked of the news Amanda's brother told her but I won't give it away. This got better with every page. I usually figure out what's going to happen before it does but i didn't see this coming and was happy with the ending..

I have just completed this book. The book is gripping and holds one's interest throughout. It is a book that could best be described as a psychological thriller. Amanda Flynn is the main character in the book and she has many problems as a result of the child abuse that she had suffered. He husband, Michael, has been cheating on her and has not been much of a support. Her father had served a prison sentence for paedophilia of which she and her brother, Andrew, were victims. This writer, who is relatively unknown has certainly proved herself as a very talented writer and certainly has the gift of holding one's interest until the last page. The situations that Amanda had found herself were tough and she was doing her utmost to care for her children. The starter of the book was her discovery of her husband, Michael, engaging in a sex act with his mistress and the way she reacted to it. So many surprises occur in this book that holds one's interest throughout. This is an excellent read and deserves a recommendation. It is not a read for the faint-hearted.
